Trip to Texas Memorial Museum

I remember going to Texas Memorial Museum on Elementary School field trips. In fact, I'm pretty sure that somewhere I have a class photo of everyone sitting on these very steps, waiting to go inside.

I've been wanting to take the kids there, and what better time than when it's 100 degrees outside everyday! I thought they might still be a little young for this museum, but they did really well. They were amazed by what they saw. It took some time convincing Jack that the dinosaur bones were not alive and couldn't move or "snap" at him. To his credit, they are huge...especially if you're two. Samantha fell in love with a microscope and fossil slides. And they both loved an exhibit on "farming ants."

Samantha petting the Saber-toothed cat and trying on a chimpanzee face.

Lots of fun (and free)! After the museum, we drove across the highway for lunch at East Side Cafe. Yumm! Thanks for the great morning Ba and Pa!

Fourth of July

We celebrated 4th of July with the Lopez's at their "Annual Wells Branch" festivity. Lots of fun! The kids ran around outside, swam and (Jack) "played" with Pa Earl's little dog, Abby.

We left before the big neighborhood firework show began, but still got in a few sparklers at our house before bed.
